“Programs like TGP not only expand academic and professional horizons but also empower students like me to see ourselves as capable of driving change beyond our own communities.”
Expectations
My name is Anggela and I am an Environmental Engineer from Peru, where renewable energy is still a growing field, and my passion for renewable energy started during university projects that showed me how powerful sustainable innovation can be. While researching master’s programs related to clean energy, I discovered TGP and it immediately caught my attention! It offered the chance to learn in Iceland, a place where energy and sustainability truly go hand in hand. The experience completely exceeded my expectations! It was the perfect mix of adventure, learning, and inspiration.
Before joining the program, my main expectation was to reaffirm my desire to deepen my studies in renewable energy and sustainability. I chose Iceland because of its global reputation as a leader in renewable energy. Once there, my expectations were not only met but exceeded, I expanded my technical understanding, gained real-world insights into geothermal systems, and experienced firsthand how sustainability can be integrated into everyday life. Beyond academics, exploring such a unique and inspiring environment strengthened my motivation to pursue a career in this field.

Takeaways and Learning Moments
[Global experiences] are important because they open doors to perspectives and opportunities that are often out of reach. Coming from Peru, being part of The GREEN Program in Iceland allowed me to connect with people from different cultures who share the same passion for sustainability. It made me realize that our voices and ideas matter in global discussions about renewable energy and environmental solutions. Programs like TGP not only expand academic and professional horizons but also empower students like me to see ourselves as capable of driving change beyond our own communities.
My biggest takeaways from the program were understanding how Iceland has successfully transitioned toward renewable energy and sustainability through innovation and collaboration. I learned how technical knowledge and social commitment can work together to create real impact. Beyond academics, the program helped me strengthen my teamwork, adaptability, and cross-cultural communication skills, showing me that global cooperation is essential to drive the energy transition forward.

Anggela’s Advice for Future GREENies
If you ever get the chance to join TGP in Iceland or to participate in any of the other programs they offer, don’t think twice! It’s not just about what you learn in class, it’s about what you experience. You’ll meet amazing people, see breathtaking landscapes, and face new challenges every day if you love adventure. You’ll also dive into a new culture and, if you’re passionate about geothermal or renewable energy like I am, you’ll be amazed by how much you can learn and how much potential these technologies have to create real impact.
