How do you want to leave your impact on the world?

I want to help create types of renewable and sustainable forms of energy. I want to reduce the carbon footprint of humanity and reduce the amount of waste we generate.

What is your story? What doesn't your resume tell us about you?

I am an incredibly passionate individual for sustainability! I want to help solve the largest and most pressing issues affecting our planet. I love exploring and adventuring. I grew up surrounded by animals, and I am vegetarian. I will work indefatigably for what I believe is interesting and important.

Describe your dream job or career.

I am very interested in renewable and sustainable energy, particularly biofuels and solar thermal systems. I am also very interested in sustainable materials such as biodegradable plastics and Styrofoam. I want to work in any way I can to make the world cleaner. I like being hands-on and outside, and I love traveling!

Tell us about your leadership experiences.

I have lead teams through my laboratory experience as well as through group projects. I have also lead sustainability based projects through the student organizations I am involved with, including trash clean-ups, canvassing for renewable energy awareness, and DIY sustainability projects.

Describe a personal experience that has directly or indirectly influenced your career path.

I have always loved being outside and animals, so I wanted to do everything I can to help protect our planet's little treasures and ensure health of the species that reside on it. I have always loved chemistry and problem solving as well, and developing clean, sustainable energy seemed like it was the most pressing issue of our century.

What is the biggest take-away and/or favorite part of your GREEN Program experience?

My favorite part of my GREEN program experience was being surrounded by people who all had the same passion about the Earth as I did. I also loved being in a foreign country and learning about its landscape and culture.

Tell us about your Capstone project experience and your journey, your team, the ideation and implementation.

My Capstone project was called "Little Earthlings." It was a project to implement sustainability education in elementary schools in lower-income areas, predominantly ones within food deserts. The Little Earthlings project would have a college student teach elementary school kids once a week and help implement a garden at the school that families of the school kids could take produce from. My team was amazing and super passionate about the idea. We looked into implementing it in lower-income areas of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Where and When would you go in a time machine? Why?

I would go to the amazon rain forest about 200 years ago, before any of it had been really cut down. I would want to experience what it is like to be in raw, untouched, extreme nature.
