My trip to Iceland gave me an in depth and thorough insight into the processes that aim to help shift the world into a more green age, I enjoyed learning about the hydro and geothermal energy processes that help to power Iceland. The people that I met awed and pleasantly surprised me, due to their sheer knowledge and passion about current events as well as their educated approaches to the problem solving activities we had. To meet such likeminded people has motivated me to pursue sustainability in my career in the future. As a civil engineering student, on the trip I learnt from other students that concrete isn't a very sustainable and green material, something that I'm not taught in my course. This allowed me to critically think about how I might be able to pursue sustainability from a civil perspective, whether it be through the design of structures or the technology that goes towards those ideas. Something I will keep in my mind and take away as I continue my studies.
