How do you want to leave your impact on the world?

I want to be able to say that I had a part in preserving natural areas where I live and help to foster a love for the outdoors and nature. I want to play a role toward transitioning our current society toward renewable energies and mitigation of climate change.

What is your story? What doesn't your resume tell us about you?

Though I was born and raised in a very metropolitan city (Miami), I have always had an appreciation for nature and the outdoors. It was a passion that I found at an early age and it is a passion that has stuck with me since. The determination I have to make a positive change for our environment is one that just grows as my experiences and knowledge grow.

Describe your dream job or career.

I hope ideally to work with an organization that does a lot of hands-on work in protecting the environment and natural resources. I think I would either love to be an applied research scientist, working on research that will be implemented into policies; a policy enforcer or someone working on the communications side of things.

Tell us about your leadership experiences.

I have been a Director with Gators Going Green, an organization on campus, coordinating a Green Gator Challenge across the University of Florida campus; a media co-chair for the School of Natural Resources and Environment Student Council and Treasurer for Omega Phi Alpha, a national community service sorority of which I am now a member.

What is the biggest take-away and/or favorite part of your GREEN Program experience?

There were many favorites. The top contenders would be how inspiring it was to be surrounded by people who had the same passions I did; how in tune and respectful Icelanders were with nature and their country; and how much I discovered about myself.

Tell us about your Capstone project experience and your journey, your team, the ideation and implementation.

Our team came up with an idea to create a environmentally-focused elementary school in order to start teaching children from a young age the importance of being eco-conscious and integrating sustainable technologies into the school.
